where the shadows come to play

I've made a deal with myself; I will not start my new Moleskine until I finish this, first, one. I only have a few pages left, but I can't seem to get it finished. This page had been depressing me for a long time. I'd put the bottle shaped bottle opener in months ago, and then didn't know where to go from there. I added a few bottle tops to the page, then some wood grain, but still it had no real direction. Finally, over the weekend I decided to finish it once and for all. I like the result.

Throughout this drawing, I was thinking of a night in a bar in Barcelona, where Andy, Tim and I decided to drink our way around the world. Not literally, of course (although, I did something similar in my 20s), the bar menu boasted 'beers from around the world'. I remember us getting as far as Asia, things get a little vague after that.

You can see the rest of my nearly finished Moleskine HERE.

Well, you made it to Asia, which probably trumps my effort to visit every pub from Hampstead to The Spaniard. On one night. Of course. Our efforts were recorded by the artist among us.I bet those sketchees would be worth a mint today!

Amazing moleskine sketchbook. You must spend hours drawing these awesome images. Can't wait to see more. Oh, I started scanning like you suggested. Thanks

How do you achieve that degree of shading with a pen, Andrea?? I can't begin to imagine.

Wowzer...your moleskine is i.n.c.r.e.d.i.b.l.e. Absolutely amazing.

I love hearing the process behind this drawing...and thinking about you drinking your way around the world. Next time you decide to do this, please let me know!

Thank you all folks.

I am quite proud of my Moley. I really want to finish it now, though. I want to put it away for a few months and then take it out and look at it through fresh eyes. I'll appreciate it more then. I'm itching to start the new one. I've got some ideas for it.

Cheers peeps.
(Oh, and those drinking days are gone. Well...)

Are you really still on your first Moly? Can you remind us what the first drawing was that you did in this one?

Ahh your drawings are great. I find it slightly depressing that no amount of practice will make me as good a draw-er as you. bah!

Cheers folks.

EJ, it is the first Moley I bought. I have two more which are filled with ideas and doodles and journalling. This one is the first, and the only one, filled with finished pieces. The first drawing in it was the pen nibs drawing.

Joe, don't be daft!
Thank you, Serena.
Pippa, nope, I'm not a young whipper-snapper like you! Glad you liked the 'prize'.

Thanks for stopping by, folks.
