I am really happy with the colours I've achieved in this drawing. However, I'm not sure about the composition. I drew around the purse to get the shape down onto the paper and now I wish I'd pushed the side in first. Damn.I bought this purse specifically to draw. It was very very cheap. This kind of purchase always causes me a moral dilemma. Whilst I adore a bargain the guilt always creeps in. How can they make these things so cheap? Where was it made and by whom? Adult? child? How much were they paid? Were they paid? What were the conditions like? How much damage to the environment was caused just so I can get a bargain like this? Am I a bad person? Welcome to my world.

Andrea this is superb! Not only do I love the colour and detail but the composition too... somehow the side sticking out makes it seem more 'real', if that makes any sense. And don't feel guilty, I go through the same thing but though I try my best, not everything is fairtrade/organic/good for the environment .. yet!

Hi, I came to your blog from Obsessive Compulsive Art Group on Flickr. I think the side of this jutting out makes in more interesting than if it had been drawn normally.
I think your accompanying description about where the article comes from is also very interesting and valid in supplementing the drawing.
Unfortunately almost everything we can buy seems to be dependent on a global infrastructure that seems to use resources, including human labor, at unfair prices to people and the environment.
Anyway, nice drawing.
Variety is the spice! You have an instinctive ability to compose. Too much symmetry is boring. And thanks for the comments--I look forward to seeing your work as well! Cheers.

You know, I like this because it's not symmetrical. Your shading is first rate and this is an interesting little picture. Anybody can do a purse that's symmetrical, but doing it differently than everyone else is a courageous move. Great work!
