old sock seeks old shoe

A quickie. Not much time for drawing this week...again. I did this whilst listening to an interesting BBC documentary, on intelligence, last night. I really overworked it; far too heavy with the pen. Oh well, I just needed a ballpoint fix. I feel like I've been neglecting my favourite medium of late.
Oh yeah, just in case you can't tell, it's a pair of socks. Very old stripey socks.

As always, Miss Joseph, a fantabulosa piece of work. I always look forward to your new posts ~ especially those with tenuous Kate Bush lovely lyrical links (how's that for alliteration?). More power to your pen, my dear!

this could be/is totally tranlatable to a large public sculpture! I love the dramatic shape. Quick, call HANES and see if they need a sculpture in front of their corporate sock headquarters.
And I LOVE the small blue thing pages too. Fantastic!

Thanks for your wonderful comments. I have joined EDM but I am finding I don't quite understand how to post. I am not really tech savy. Feel free to back channel me at brian23168@msn.com Thanks again for taking time to look at my site and leave comments!!!

Thanks guys.

I did wonder whether people would tell what this was a drawing of! I didn't know whether others would see what I was seeing!

Brian - I am not really tech savy myself, to the point that I don't even know what 'back channel' means!!I found the EDM site pretty easy to use, if there's anything you'd like to know just ask and I'll try to help. If you have worked out how to use the message board then there'll always be somebody to answer you questions. And don't forget to introduce yourself there. Your blog is really nice.

Mr Tim - the tenuous KB links are all dedicated to you, my friend!

Cheers everyone. I appreciate your comments.

What makes it so incredible, Andrea, is how you lay on that ballpoint pen with such vigour! The intensity of the colour is due to that, and that's what makes these ballpoint pen drawings of your so memorable and so absolutely captivating!

The way you get such seamless values with that ball point is what amazes me the most! I can FEEL the roundness and depth -- absolutely WONDERFUL!!

You have a way of making the ordinary look beautiful and so enjoyable to view ... even the obvious sock. How can that be?

G'day Andrea,

Too heavy with the pen? Er, no.

Overworked? Er, no.

Always a pleasure to see your work. Have you noticed how you've been steadily climbing the list at Aussiejourno's Weekly Blog Awards?

More power to you.

This is so beautiful Andrea...the blues you've used, is breathtaking. Who would've thought sock could be heightened to such glory? I also adore your previous post ..I'm a little blue thing...it is amazing work. I like the one with the title, the theme almost asks for it...
Your style is so distinctive and different and interesting,(I think I'm repeating myself here..) I love it!
