I've noticed that pears seem to be quite a popular subject matter for some of the illustrators from these drawing blogs. I know exactly why; I love them too. They have a great figure for drawing. I enjoy playing around with their shapes. My favourites are the short stubby varieties like Packhams or Williams.

Love your drawings!!!
Sigh. How do you make just the simplest things brilliant with only a few delicate strokes?
andrea- nice job. love the page! looks like one of those prints you get to decorate your kitchen!
They are beautiful, so shapely and elegant. You sure do make the simplest things wonderful.
Hi Andrea,
Love the Packhams.... and the "peg"
Cheers
Phil
Love your pear study. Lovely!
These are so beautifully arranged on the page.
They are sexy! Really inviting.
"What a beautiful pair" a man once said to my girlfriend. thank goodness she was holding a piece of fruit in her hand! Seriously, beautiful drawing. Yup, and I too love to draw pears!! (and eat them too.)
Cheers everyone! I enjoy doing these studies, hope it shows.
You are so talented! I wish I could draw like you. I have just started drawing due to the suggestions from some "creativity" books I have been reading lately. I went to Lake Tahoe on vacation and it started snowing. I sat on the couch next to the fireplace and drew the scene out the window. It didn't come out too bad. But I'm still working on lines . . . these have great shading!
Thanks for checking out my blog rachel's bite.
What shapes! Fabulous, as always.
Great pears. I loved it! They are like "portuguese women" after the forty, exactly the same shappe!
Stela Barreto
