cold comfort for change

I have one final idea in mind for some of these ballpointy doodley drawings. I say final because I've been considering giving up on these kind of drawings in the near future. It's just a feeling I have.

It's not that I don't enjoy doing them. They are what happens when I play around with the pen and paper. When I want to draw but don't know what I want to draw.

And, it's not that I don't like these drawings. Sometimes I think they look pretty good. But, sometimes I feel totally uninspired when I look at them.

It's just that I get this feeling that these drawings are kind of like taking a step backwards. Or running over the same old ground.

And, I don't know that that is what I want to do now. I dunno.

If you're feeling stale in your art it's definitely time to move into something new, and it's not like you have to give up the ballpoint drawings forever - if the inspiration hits, art is just a pen away. But you can send me all your coloured ballpoints in the meantime ;).

The different colored ballpoints in a single post is awesome! I wonder the endless possibilities with all other colors combined =)

I think they are wonderful, perhaps you can set aside time to try other things and try to find inspiration in parts of these drawings and expand on them in other mediums.

i love your drawings, so i do hope you return to them periodically, when you're not off doing some other new art ;)
i love the red one, especially how you included a corner of your molezine #1 red envelope!
i'm with leila, if you find yourself doodling away, just send the stuff you don't like over to me, across the pond. i'll find a good home for them, lol ;)

I'll be watching to see the direction you take!

Wow! these are awesome drawings. I do not think they are a step back. You should continue to do what you love and sometimes doodling is the best thing to do with a bored mind. I love them. Keep up the good work.

Well I love them but if you do move in another direction I'm sure it will be great!

You are so very creative that I think you should just accept to draw sometimes without "knowing what to draw", if other times you have the inspiration and goals while drawing. I admire all your drawings and your creative world, beaucause il feels like you invite us into you little world (or "big" is more the world to use). Questioning ourselves always leads us to new experiences and explorations.
Good luck! But please don't trow your ballpoints away.

you have described EXACTLY how i feel about drawing blocks! Try not to think about it and just draw whatever you feel like. Inspiration WILL hit but it'll feel like torture trying to get it started. Take a break, go outside someplace new and just have fun! I think inspiration will come faster when you're feeling content.

don't give up ballpoint (you do draw so beautifully with it!) but I get what you mean about using this same medium over and over again that it feels overused.. it's okay to take a break from it and try something new. who knows? you might find a new way to use ballpoint pens!

Than you all, folks.

I will in fact be posting a whole load of ballpoint drawings to finish off this idea I have.So you might be as bored of them, as I am, by the end of that!

No, I'm not giving up ballpoints. I love them too much. It's just these sort of doodley drawing/writing things that I'm a bit bored of. But, now and again, I suppose it's a good way to get all that nonsense out of your system.

Thank you all for taking the time to comment. I 'ppreciate it.

Cheers.
