forever in blue jeans
This drawing is more than a little cheesy. But, you know, I like cheese. A lot. Bread and cheese, cheese on toast, cheese and biscuits, cheese and pickle, cheese and wine. In my opinion, there is no social occasion that couldn't be improved by cheese and pineapple on sticks. My signature dish is cheese pie. I'll have cheese with pasta and chilli, in omelettes and quiches. I like cheesy mash and cheesy Wotsits. Not forgetting the legendary Ploughman's lunch. I love cheddar, mature cheddar, extra mature cheddar and vintage cheddar. Cheshire, Caerphilly, Stilton, Emmental, Camembert, Feta, Chevres, Gruyere, Danish blue and Brie. Oh, and cream cheese. Cows, sheep and goats cheese too. So, yes, I like a bit of cheese. In cheese terms, though, this drawing is a steaming pile of Stinking Bishop. It pongs.

Another coincidence that must have been written in the stars. I just turned to my computer after making a big pot of cheddar ale soup! My vegetarian son is coming home tomorrow night for the holidays, arriving at 10:30, which means we won't be home till midnight (far from the airport) and I wanted something wonderful to fill him up ----my husband likes cheddar ale soup in our local brewery, so I tweaked a cheese soup recipe to add ale and it's yummy! Stop by for a bowl!
I love the drawing... and I love cheese! (And the previous comment has me plotting a batch of beer-cheese soup over the holidays...) You know, it takes something special to turn a stack of denim into art - which is what you did!
Well, I like cheese and I like denim and I'm not sure what you think is wrong with this!
(And I'd like to know the answer from a couple of posts back, please!)
I would like to see the recipe for your Cheese Pie. I also love cheese. Not sure I could eat the stinky one tho. I like cheese and an apple. The cheddar/ale soup sounds interesting.
I forgot to ask. What are cheesy mash and cheesy Wotsits. I am from California, USA. I have never heard of them. But everything is better with cheese.
Your drawing is wonderful! The jeans look so soft and inviting. Great job at rendering stacked folded clothing. I've tried it, so I know it is not easy :-)
Great, great work.
I profit to wish you Merry Christmas and the best for 2008.
What a comforting post! A nicely folded stack of familiar, well worn jeans, and a mouth-watering list of one of my favorite food groups. I agree with everything you said about cheese... EXCEPT calling the drawing cheesy. I like it a lot!
I have to tell you that I am from Wisconsin and we have a lot of cheeseheads here. Wonderful bunch of jeans Andrea!
I happen to love a beautiful blue cheese so as far as I'm concerned you've hit the nail on the head....
Oooh, I love them!
its a beautiful drawing -i love it. i love some cheese as well but i don't find this drawing cheesey in least (at least my definition :-)) and speaking of definitions - what is cheesy mash, cheesy wotsits? inquiring minds want to know :-)
You'll have to tell us - what is wrong with this drawing??!
Oh yes, Cheesy Wotsits - a great British delicacy! I love cheese too especially that really tangy extra mature Cheddar and tangy fresh Parmesan.
I know the song but can't remember who sang it - it'll stick in my head now!
God, I hate this drawing. It may be one that is pulled at a later date. But I do, indeed, love cheese and am pleased this is a passion that you share with me.
Jeanette, cheddar ale suop? I don't know whether that sounds like the best meal I've ever heard of or something that you would regret immeadiately after eating (like a fondue). I'd give it a go though. Definately.
Cheesey mash is just mashed potato with added cheese! Cheesey Wotsists are those cheese puffs. I think (not sure) that they are called Cheetos in the US, but Wotsits are better than those - but then I am biased.
Yep, Felicity, I think the extra mature Cheddar is my all time favourite cheese. Damn, I'm getting hungry...
(Dinahomow, I'm onto that, I promise)
Another cheese lover here. I made cheese and pineapple on sticks for a social event yesterday and they went down very well!
I have enjoyed looking at your site this year. You've posted some nice art and your comments are always entertaining. I hope you have a Merry Christmas and a successful 2008. Keep posting.
Your cheesy listing is almost poetic, but there's nowt cheesy about that lovely drawing IMHO. You have such a clever way with depicting fabrics.
Merry Christmas to you and a Happy New sketching year! xxx
You're so silly! And cheesy.
Great drawing Andrea, nothing cheesy about it ... and I'm a huge cheese addict/fan too!! Welsh rarebits (is that right? I used to think it was "rabbits" when I was a kid!) for me!
I LOVE this drawing! I don't mind cheese either though I'm not a fan of Blue Vein.
Thank you all for your kind comments.
Mariana, how could I forget Welsh rarebit(I'm not sure of the spelling myself)?? Our national dish here in Wales - cheese on toast basically!
Diolch (I've probably spelt that wrong too!).
Well....you MUST be Wallace's hilarious cousin. If I'm not marveling over drawings that you categorize as "shite" (my interpretation of course), I'm laughing over your witty comments.
Brillitna...all of it.....even if you think "it pongs". What does that mean, anyway?
Cheese is the best! Can you imagine being lactose-intolerant?!
