EDM#55 draw a doorknob

This is the doorknob from my kitchen door.....with a cat toy thrown in - completely free of charge.
(the colour seemed like a good idea at the time, I'm not too sure now)

Oh my gosh! What a neat doorknob but the wood graining is spectacular!!! And I love that little bit of color.

I love the colour Andrea, and the detail in this. Your use of colour in all your drawings is amazing though, and that wallet is brilliant ... Your work is truly beautiful. Cheers.

I really like the color....it adds even more life to your drawing! Interesting doorknob too! Not a single doorknob in the new place I am renting matches...but not a single one is as interesting as yours either!

It would be nice without the color. . . but it is FANTASTIC with it!!

Cheers guys!

I still can't make my mind up about the colour. I've used a bit of colour with pencil before on a version of the Princess and the Pea and it looked quite good. I think maybe I just used too many colours; should have stuck to one or two or a limited palette. I'll give it another go soon. I really enjoyed drawing the grain of the door so I'll definatley draw that again.

suzanne I had never even noticed the doorknob, never looked at it twice - that's what I like about these challenges! All the different ones in your place could make an interesting collection?? If anyone can make them look good you can!

Thanks eveyonr for your kind comments. And Happy New Year!

It's the wood on the door that blows me away. I think the use of color is grand -- it stays true to the spirit of the cat toy... wherever we put them, they're going to look goofy. :-)
Oh, and Andrea, are you going to sketch your cat?!

I love the color and the whole thing. Lots of personality, a good thing. And yes, when do we get to see sketches of your cat?

My favorite part of this drawing is the door. It's beautifully done.

Yeah I agree the best bit about it is the door. I enjoyed doing it too very theraputic! As for the cat, well, I do draw her a lot but I never feel like I really get her charachter. The last four sketches in a row that I did were probably the best - but I'm not that good with living things!!

Cheers guys, I love what all of you create and I'm always touched by your comments.

I hate to disagree (OK, I like to disagree sometimes...) with most of you but think outside the box! The wood on the door is beautifully rendered but it's the unexpected aspect of the colourful cat toy that takes it from the realm of competent sketch into the realm of look-twice art.
