For probably about two years now I've been meaning to do a FAQ post. It would then provide me with a link that I can send to people when they write to me asking about pens and stuff. This week, while I'm being all pro active, that is what I am going to do. I originally thought I'd do it today but I'm going to push it back to the end of the week, to coincide with my birthday (eeek). It feels right to do it on that day. I don't know why.
So, if you have any questions you'd like to ask about my work then please do. You can ask them in the comments and I'll answer them to my post.
Another thing I am going to be doing is a pen review. This drawing is me warming up for that. Click on it if you'd like to read the low down on this selection ballpoints.

Which of the blue ones does the best job for reproduction? Which one does well as a web image?
Another Q for your FAQ!
Do you have a full time job or do you live a life of luxury to just draw draw draw? :D
Congratulations on your exhibition. I wish I could see it in person!
I have a question - what made you start drawing with biros, it's a fairly unusual tool for an artist?
Andrea~
It just dawned on me why I keep clicking on your blog after all these years...I love the drawing and I love WHAT you write, but (and here's the epiphany), it is so self-evident that you really love TO write almost as much as you love to draw.
With this drawing especially I am aware of the beauty of your text over the imagery beside it. In fact as I type this (ironic that we can't write our comments back to you) I have your sassy and smart letter forms swimming in my mind - even though your drawings are top notch.
As usual, excellent work. Always a pleasure.
Great sketchbook page. Love the writing styles that accompany the sketch of all of the pens. Can't wait for your more in depth report.
Something I always want to know, do you rough out your drawings in pencil first or go straight in there with the biro?
Thank you all, folks. I'll answr all the questions on Friday and over the weekend. I'm looking forward to it.
Cheers.
I will always be completely amazed at the level of realism you always get into your drawings. It really is amazing, I just want to pick a pen out of your drawing and start using it!!!
I'm a total Andrea Joseph groupy:) I'm an artist, too, but with paint, and I'm in awe of your wonderful lines. I'm also with Rob...I love your writing too.
My question -- how do you deal with blotchy pens? Even biros get that blotch every once in a while, but all of your drawings seem to be "blotch free".
Hi Andrea!
What kind of pen(brand name) is your sepia one??
Hello there Andrea...
I hope you don't mind, but I included this image as part of my Artists' Friday Feature

Best wishes

I had the enormous pleasure of stumbling across your work in Buxton last week. It left me literally breathless with its personality and execution.
Have you come across the Society of Graphic Fine Art - the UK's drawing Society? www.sgfa.org.uk if you want to take a look. There is an Open Exhibition in October each year, applications close on 20th August.
