i want to go home, don't want to stay

Back in the Moleskine sketchbook, I haven't used it for a long time. I'd forgotten how good the paper is. This drawing is my response to Everyday Matters Challenge #130 'draw some school supplies'. Oh, and don't tell the teacher but I carved my initials in the desk with the compass.

For those who don't know (and who have asked me recently) Everyday Matters is an online drawing group. They set weekly challenges and you can see that list HERE.

You can see the Everyday Matters challenges that I have completed HERE.

You are amazing Andrea - I love how you can change ordinary items into a piece of art work that you can go back and look at time after time. Your detail is extroudinary. (Yes I know I cant spell!!!)

Such awesome detail! It looks like you have used the instruments to get the beautiful straight edges.

I find it so ironic that (I know) not one of those geometric tools was used to create this work of geometric perfection.

Simply stunning.

As always, you've taken a challenge and "kicked it up a notch!" I can absolutely get lost in your drawings just studying all those details!!

Holy crapola Andrea! O-M-G! I love this ... the lines, the penwork, the instruments, the wood grain! In your words, totally "Bril"!

Andrea this is great. I am always floored by the detail of your drawings. The way you've illustrated the grain of the wood is fantastic!

great stuff, so warm and textured, blimey i haven't seen those instruments in years. i only just started using a ruler again last week. protractors! those triangle things! compasses that don't point north! and those things with two points on, well. i think they are for maps, but in my school they were for protection.
bien fait!

Thanks folks,

I was in two minds about posting this one - or even carrying on with it. I'm glad i did now!

Brenda, thanks for that, I'm very flattered.

Jo, love the 'holy crapola' and will HAVE to use that at some point!

Pete, as soon as I saw that tin I had to buy it - to draw of course It is a long time since I've used any of those instruments and I really don't even know what you do with most of them!

Cheers everyone, I'm really touched.

Oh,and nobody noticed the 170 degree semi circle on the protractor. Phew, I got away with it!

Can you tell me if you use a sepia pencil or a sepia pen? Please forgive my ignorance. Your drawings are amazing.

I've enjoyed looking over your work before. Thank you for posting such beautiful drawings for us to savor. Susn R.

I'm glad you decided to post this drawing, too, Andrea, as it really is totally awesome!!
And thanks for cluing us in to the 170 degrees, I never would have noticed!

Thank you all,

Churchmouse, I actually used both a sepia pen and pencil in this one. I drew it all with the pen and then put a little shading in with the pencil. I think it's the additional pencil that gives it that blended look.

Cheers!

Thank you! I joined the EDM group a while back but, besides being frantically busy, can never find the list of things to draw!! I know of a lady in Oregon who is desperately trying to think of what to draw next... this should keep her busy ;-)
