It's my friend Tim's birthday today - his 40th birthday! So I thought I'd get a little post in even though he's celebrating in Paris. Tim is not just my friend, he's my best friend. I have known him all my life, literally. We grew up in the same street. He lived in number 10 and I lived in number 20. I was hoping to post a drawing that I've been working on, for his birthday present, but didn't get it finished in time. So these are some real oldies from a time when we shared a house in Wordsworth Street (great name for a street). Even back then I was drawing everything in sight.
Here's an old pic of us too. Happy Birthday my friend.

Hey, the plant drawings are superb! You show a lot of talent even back then! What a great post too. I bet Tim will be ecstatic with his present! Thanks for posting your older stuff. BTW, is that you in the photo?
i really love the drawings - such cute pots too! I hope your friend had a lovely birthday. and i'm guessing thats you with Tim in the photo? well you're just as cute as your are talented!
You two are very cute. Happy Birthday Tim! pc4u aka annyp
I like the way you cut the plants out and pasted them on to another sheet - really makes them pop. That picture of you and Tim is great - you guys look like you were having a ball. It's so nice you are still friends after all this time. That's a relationship to cherish.
Thanks guys.
Yes it is Tim and I in the snap. The reason for the startled looks on our faces was due to the two coachs of tourists that had just pulled up (behind the camera) to look at the 'world famous' cafe. I'm sure that claim (about it being world famous) is stretching the truth somewhat. Have any of you guys outside the UK ever seen it before? Hmmm. Anyway, we had tea and scones there and felt rather queazy for the rest of the day.
I think the photo was taken about 7 years ago - the drawigs were done about a decade ago. I doubt enlarging them will do them any favours at all. They're not great.
Cheers guys.
Oddly, I'm unaware of that cafe...
It's great to see what you look like! And I love the plants.
Those plants are so wonderfully done. So glad you shared them and that part of your life.
SUCH A CUTE PHOTO. Love it!
Wow, Andrea, we get to see you! You're cute and Tim's jolly! Great combination!
Love your plant and pots. You've been doing great work for awhile! Keep it up!
Cheers everyone. So nobody recognises the world famous cafe? Strange that.
Tee Hee Hee. Many thanks for the wonderful words, pictures and moments of pleasure over the (ahem) past few years, Miss Joseph. I was very touched!
Thanks to your lovely friends here too, for their birthday greetings!
Are you going to reveal the 'identity' of the World Famous Bath, sorry, Cafe?
You're welcome! And, I'm still waiting for somebody, anybody, to recognise Ivy's Cafe.
Do you remember those scones? Eeeeek. They had lots and lots of squirty cream on and, for some bizarre reason, tinned mandarin segments. They still, to this day, make me feel a little queazy (I've spelt it different twice, in hope that I get it right once). As I've said before, it's funny what makes it through to the long term memory, isn't it?
I always find it so strange to see a photo of someone when I already have an imagined 'portrait' in my head. The minute I see the photo, the imagined image evaporates and I am left with a feeling that the real is very different from what I'd imagined but I have no idea how it differs.
It looks like Sid's Cafe to me, as in 'Last of the Summer Wine'.
Love your drawings.
