Teri, I have a little shortlist of names for him. He actually started out life about ten years ago(!) as Sparky but he has developed and changed so much since then that that does not suit him any longer. I'm guessing that his real name will make itself known....one day! Maybe when I've finihed the book?!

Yes Felicity - I love Brian Froud and Alan Lee's work. Their book 'Faeries' has been such an inspiration. I'd love to make that kind of work for young children. I always see their work as being for adults or, at least, older children. Some of it can be quite scary, I think, but I guess that too is part of the appeal. My characters are probably a little more whimsical!
