Finally a drawing I'm happy with. Like others, who completed this challenge, I found it difficult to find something yellow to draw. Then I realised the answer was under my nose!
This drawing took about two hours. I was watching and listening to an old concert by James Taylor, filmed by the BBC. His voice is beautiful, smooth like honey. I LOVE that feeling you get from hearing a voice that touches you. Imagine being able to do that with pen or pencil.

back to black
I've run out of sepia ink. I have about seven empty pens. So until I get some more I've turned my attention to black ink. I've never really got on with black ink. I like black ballpoint but not ink. I don't know why. I love to see the work other people do with it. I think I like working in sepia ink because it's a lot softer than black. Black ink can be quite harsh and unforgiving. Perhaps it's the pens I'm using. Any recommendations?
So I've spent the last few days drawing and yet this lousy hoover (I mean vacuum cleaner) is all I've got to post. I'm trying to not get frustrated about it. I'm looking at all the bad drawings as 'growth'. Hum.
Out of interest, is it only the Brits who call vacuum cleaners 'hoovers'?

love reign over me
It's my birthday today. Thought I'd get a post in before it's over. A pretty unremarkable day really apart from the rain. It has rained and rained and rained. I'm watching and listening to The Who at Glastonbury. It's raining there too. Wondering about what the next year will bring. Who knows.

a midsummer night's dream
I did this drawing a while back. It was for an idea that I have for a kid's book. It's loosely based on the house where my friend Toby grew up; in the stunning, yet dark, hills of Whitland, Wales.
I dreamt about Toby last night. It was New Year's Eve. He was carrying a packet of bacon and was scared of step ladders. We were on our way to Neil Young's house for a party. Then I woke up. I tried to force myself back to sleep just to go to the party at Neil's place but that never seems to work, does it?
Oh, and there IS a step ladder in this drawing. I love coincidences like that. They really spark my imagination.

into tomorrow
I've been finding it really difficult to draw over the last couple of weeks. Or, more to the point, finding it difficult to like anything that I've drawn. Sometimes you just run out of steam - just like this bee. I think I'm starting to feel inspired again. I'd like to thank everyone from the Everyday Matters group, and everyone else on my blogroll, who provide me with inspiration on a daily basis.
(BTW, it is the same dead bee from the last post. Poor bugger.)

we all come and go alone
This poor bee has been on the floor for sometime now. Days in fact. I kept on thinking I should get rid of it but then never getting around to it. Plus I didn't have the heart. This was Flower's (my cat) prey. She isn't big on hunting - actually I think this is the only thing she's ever caught. Well, with a name like Flower she was never going to be much of a hunter, was she? She doesn't see the point anyway not when she employs somebody (me) to wait on her hand and foot.

perpetually stuck in sepia
These are very lovely shoes. I like them a lot. They've never been worn though. They live in their box in the back of the cupboard. I think I liked the wood grain on the heel. I often find myself dressed like a tree (there's lots of green and brown in my wardrobe). But seriously, what was I thinking? I don't have the kind of job that you need to dress up for. I rarely go out! I probably couldn't even walk in them. They weren't even half price in a sale - so I don't have that excuse. Seemed like a good idea at the time. Know what I mean ladies?

A strange boy is weaving a course of grace and havoc
So my friend Tim isn't the jewellery kind. Well, not your gold plated chain kind anyway - more of your wooden beads bought on a Goan beach type of guy. However he never throws anything away. This drawing was made from some chains that he collected as a child. Before the teenage years (that we don't mention).
I'm really disappointed with this drawing actually. Quite uninspiring. I had a much better drawing in my head. I don't like the composition and no matter how many more chains I threw at it it didn't seem to get any better. Oh well.
Aaah, remember the days when Snickers were called Marathons and everything was good with the world?

EDM#78 draw a souvenir
This is really disappointing. The scan is awful. The original looks so much better. I painted the bell with some bronze ink and on the original it looks really good. It just doesn't work on the scan. It looks flat and the colour is very very dull. I have a feeling this post is really going to annoy me. It looks better HERE.
