I'd love to say that this was all my own idea, but I can't do that. I saw the very excellent Susan Rudat's washing machine drawing and thought 'why oh why wasn't that my idea'. Then I stole it.And, here's a pile of dirty clothes thrown in free of charge. I'm too good to you.

ReplyDeleteWhat a great drawing, I second what Ryan said! That's very neat pile of dirty washing I have to say, if I drew mine I'd need an A3 sheet of paper! Btw, I got the Kate Bush CD when I was in London but sadly I'm not mad about it! Sorry! Maybe I have to give it time - Joni was always like that, getting better the more I listened.

"imitate. Don't be shy about it. Try to get as close as you can. You'll never get all the way, and the seperation might be truly remarkable. We only have to look to richard hamilton and his version of marcel duchamp's large glass to see how rich, discredited, and underused imitation is as a technique"

ReplyDeleteI don't really have a problem with using somebody elses idea now and again. I do agree, Eva, it's probably best not to shy about it. That's why I made sure to credit Susan. And, after all there are no original ideas anyway. Everyhting has been drawn before. It's just about doing it in our own way. And, yes, there is something remarkable about the seperation.
I LOVE Susan's washing machine and I'm pretty damn happy with mine too.
