So, i was expecting to see your contribution to Miguel's moly and boom, here's this star!!! I am baffled by the fact you think negatively of this -- i think it's grand! It's so fricken grand.

I love the hand where it is. The artist desperately reaching out from being buried (flattened) by buttons. Works for me!
ReplyDeleteIt's brilliant. I actually love the idea of it being a man doing a star jump. It's as though he (the little man) wants to disguise himself as a button-covered star but he forgot to cover up his hand. I love it! And the cat toy was brilliant. I would love to see a video of you drawing to see how you get the effects you do. Also, I adore the black shoes too. I will never tire of looking at your drawings. And as for the page with the trainers and the doodles and writing: I love it. It's another favourite. I love the drawings you do with writing in them.

ReplyDeleteI think the buttons and other tiny treasures are wonderful! If you're not happy with the results, it might be one of those compositional problems, kind of like in a painting where the horizon has been placed dead center and thus seems static. Not to advise you in how to compose your pieces, because we all know you certainly have that mastered...but perhaps if you sketch in the ever so slightest and faintest hints of different fabrics (perhaps celestial patterns??) under the pile of buttons it may "settle" them "into" the page. Just a thought.

ReplyDeleteI feel stupid, as I still can't find the ladybird in the top drawing - but such a thrill to spot the others!! So funny to see that in my own small way, I've made it into the greatest Moly exchange of all time. :-D
ReplyDeleteI love both drawings, and frankly my rather literal mind doesn't see what's wrong with the resemblance to a starjump. I think it's delightful.
I just don't know how you get so much detail in your work. Everything about this is amazing. You're a star!
