Just a quickie. Yesterday I had such a need to draw. I was craving drawing like a junkie who needed a fix. Actually, that's not a good analogy. I don't want to see drawing as an addiction. That would make it a negative thing, and drawing isn't a negative, it's my saviour for God's sake! Besides, I have enough to deal with with my annual Creme Egg addiction. It's bad. I'm buying them by the box - half a dozen at a time.
I started this in the car and finished it at home. It's not great, my knees look weird (I am sitting down, by the way) but anything to keep my mind off those Creme Eggs.
What a fun drawing! I've actually had a craving to see your art work lately, but I've been so busy - anyway now I feel better....
ReplyDeleteDrawing as a substitute addiction for creme eggs sounds like a great idea - maybe you could set up a 12 step program.
fun! This is really funny. A great drawing.
ReplyDeleteYou are funny. I get those same 'I need to draw' feelings and I call it an addiction but in the positive sense.
ReplyDeleteConversely, I also get times when I couldn't draw a straight line :)
You have captured the texture of your jeans so well. It has come out great.
ReplyDeleteWonderful drawing! Oh, how you drew the fabric. Stunner!
ReplyDelete(And it's nice to see you getting out of the small-objects genre now and then...)
I love it just the way it is...perfect...even for an addict!!! And, just so you know, your creme egg addiction has met it's match over in North Carolina!
ReplyDeleteGreat and fun drawing!
ReplyDeleteMay the name of God be blessed!
What is a creme egg?
ReplyDeleteAnd secondly did you draw while you wre driving?
You are a funny woman indeed!
w.
Oh, those damn creme eggs! I know exactly what you mean. Thank goodness they're only in your face once a year.
ReplyDeleteBEAUTIFUL drawing as always
Cheers folks.
ReplyDeleteWell I didn't even know you had Creme Eggs in the US. Are they Cadbury's??
Wendy, NO! I wasn't drawing whilst driving, but that would be an amazing skill to master, wouldn't it?
Yeah, Jason, it is good to break out of that genre now and again. But not for long, eh?
Thank you all guys. Now go and buy a box of six Creme Eggs and see how many you can eat in one sitting. I did three...
Hello Andrea,
ReplyDeleteI've just given you an award on my drawdaily blog. You are an inspiration!
Joyce
Great, great work.
ReplyDeleteAs you are, I too am addicted to drawing, but the addiction to creme eggs?
ReplyDeleteDarling, judging by the size of them shanks...,
Whoa!
better lay off the cream eggs for a while and meet up with the addicted joggers instead.
I always am inspired by your work.
Keepin' it real,
Neil
I know the feeling... and i dig this drawing BECAUSE of the funny knees/shins and the perspective. Very unexpected of you, Andrea. I love it.
ReplyDeleteI know this is my second time commenting on this post...but darn it!...I REALLY LOVE IT.
ReplyDeleteLOL! I'm so glad that I checked in! Love this new perspective. Yup, unexpected and fun! I will have to get one of those eggs ... now I'm curious!
ReplyDeleteThanks chucks!
ReplyDeleteNeil, hehe! I think the size of 'the shanks' is more to do with the angle rather than my Creme Egg obsession. At least i hope!
This was a really tricky perspective, and yes, not my usual thing. It's grown on me, though. It's good to do have a change in direction now and again. I'm gonna post some really small things now though....
Cheers folks, (and thanks Suzanne (twice)).
We can only get Cadbury eggs by 4's. I totally understand the addiction/salvation dilemma.
ReplyDeleteWonderful drawing. Great colors and, as always, the most amazing detail.

Oh my, you shouldn't have reminded me of creme eggs, I used to breathe those in when I was at boarding-school!! And I used to draw my feet and legs whenever I was stuck for a drawing (and hands too!), there are quite of a few of those floating around in the ether. Love the socks :)
ReplyDeleteLove love love this one!!!
ReplyDeleteSo are you going to draw a half dozen box of creme eggs?
