This is a memory drawing. I saw a sculptor make a piece like this, in a wood, in a park, many many moons ago. Actually it probably didn't look anything like this, but that's the interesting thing about memory drawings. How much of this drawing was dragged out of my long term memory and how much came from my imagination? I will never know. This is in ballpoint, and I quite like it. It's called 'Fairy Chair'. Now I don't know whether that's what the sculptor called it or whether I've just made that up.
Lovely drawing, Andrea
ReplyDeleteHi Andrea, Thanks for visiting my blog. I have been so out of touch with edm and the challenges, and I misssss it soooo much. I've been painting some canvas's for Christmas gifts but not much else. On looking through your blog, IT IS SENSATIONAL AS ALWAYS!!! Your drawings are a true pleasure to look at and reading your blog is so very inspiring. Keep it up!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful chair and so perfect for your book. Your use of ball point pen is awesome!!
ReplyDeleteCheers guys.
ReplyDeleteI must admit I'm very happy with this one. I really like the idea of these 'memory drawings' too. I think it's something I'd like to do more of. Drawing from memory - with no visual reference material to rely on really gives you the oppurtunity to work from a different place. I love that! I don't know if that makes any sense, but I kind of understood it!
My love affair with the ballpoint continues...
Thanks again for visiting and taking the time to comment.
I love it! Your style is so right for children's books.
ReplyDeleteCheers France, it was just a sketch - I was thinking of doing a painting of it but I like it like this. I won't bother with the painting. Cheerios!
