Here's a sketch I made yesterday. I've looked at this view for so long but used to think it was way too complicated to draw. Buildings and perspective are a couple of those subjects that scare me. But these days I see that as a challenge.I started at the top left hand corner of the page, but misjudged things and didn't have the room to fit our row of houses in. And there are some obvious scale issues, as you can see from the photo below. Oh well. Maybe tomorrow.
the drawing itself is great and I think it's more important then the true comparison with the real pic, since the real composition of things we draw is not that perfect usually, so you just make them look better))

ReplyDeleteThis is what I love about drawing from life...things may be somewhat wonky...but that is ok! First of all, they typically look better wonky and second, no one has to know!

I'm always frustrates when I get scale wrong, but on the other hand...I think it adds charm and bit of "how the artist was seeing it." Now if only I can remember that when I'm frustrated with myself next time!
