i was just sitting here thinking

How long exactly can you put off washing the dishes? For me, it's precisely this amount of time. Click on this drawing. It looks a bit better that way. Not a lot, but a bit.

Oh, and a little shout out to one of my very favourite, and one of the most fabulous, blogs on the whole of the entire interweb. I first came across Penguin and Fish through Suzanne. Back then they had featured her work. I've been secretly wishing they would feature mine, in a desperate needy sort of way, ever since. And, my wish came true. Thanks Alyssa!
Warning: you WILL lose the rest of the day if you click HERE.

  1. That is precisely the amount of time Edgar can leave them as well... I, on the other hand, get very nauseous when I wake up to dirty dishes. Therefore, I force myself to try to wash them the night before. Yuck...

Congrats on Penguin and Fish. Isn't it such a great blog?

You are feeling creative these days :)

  5. I think this is fab and that you might do one more before attacking the dishes. Maybe they might go away.

Great the ink on the graph paper, very nice. So glad you drew the dishes instead of washing them! :-p

no offence intended andrea. but sorry, your dish stacking skills suck. you can leave the dishes at least 3 more days. BUT when stacking you need to put the cups outside the dish rack, then you can get more stuff in the rack. i sometimes, depending on dish amount might go so far as to lay out a teatowel. then you can really go crazy.

When I was a student, I didn't do the dishes for a whole week, I did them on friday afternoon and then had work for hours :-)
Today I have a dish washer machine, the best invention in the world after fire, the wheel, book press and the computer..
    Lovely drawing!

  13. Thanks, guys.

Suzanne, I know how you feel. I always feel nauseos the next day, but you know, you kind of get used to it if you leave them often enough! And, I'm obsesive complusive!!

Brendan, I have a friend that uses the old tea towel trick. AND the cups on the outside. I've even been to their house and washed up for them!

Frank, I dream of a dish washer. Really I do. I agree, it really has to be one of the best inventions ever.

    Cheers, y'all.
Now go and check out Penguin and Fish!

  14. One time Peceli and I returned from Fiji after leaving three teenage sons to fend for themselves. We came home a day early and oh, they thought they had another day to clean up. Mugs all over the house. I cleaned up (they were still at school) and missed seeing Queen Elizabeth who was in town!

PS What a super idea. Draw the messy kitchen instead of cleaning up.

  15. I hate leaving dishes in the rack overnight. I like to start the morning fresh or it's too hard to face at all! Great picture. I think the pictures shown on Penguin and Fish were nice examples. It feels good to be recognized for your work doesn't it?

  16. Wow, that is really good, I'd have a go at drawing the washing up but I never have a chance because the pots are always done! Anyhow, your drawings and sketches never fail to make me happy ;-)
