some might say

Right guys, I promise, I PROMISE, this is the last you'll see of this drawing. I have no choice in the matter anyway, the the doodles are the only thing holding the paper together.

To anyone who fancies completing one of these step by step drawings, before the eyes of the world, it's really simple. Just follow these twelve easy steps;

Step one. I think I'll start a step by step drawing.
Step Two. Yeah, that's a good idea.
Step Three. Yes, I'm loving this.
Step four. I knew it was a good idea.
Step Five. Of course, now I'm committed to this.
Step Six. I couldn't just give it up now.
Step Seven. How long exactly have I been doing this?
Step Eight. Seriously.
Step Nine. I AM getting rather irritable now.
Step Ten. I'm losing the will to live.
Step Eleven. I'm considering murder.
Step Twelve. Finished. Thank f**k for that.

I have noticed that Illustration Friday's theme this week is 'Opinion'. So, as I finished this yesterday, I'm calling this my contribution. Some might say I should have given up on this drawing a long time ago. But as you can see I'm of the opinion - I mean the naughty kid who drew on desk is of the opinion -that it's better to burn out than fade away. Me and this drawing. Totally burnt out. Never again.

LOL...I happen to love it but i understand your "burn out" on the piece. Some of them just do that to us, eh?

You and that naughty kid have produced some of the best artwork I have ever seen. My art seems stuck in pre-decimal days, yours is right now, keep producing that really inspirational stuff.

I got in trouble doodle on my desk like that when i was in Jr. High. They made me come in after school and clean all the desk. I didn't do a good job because I ended up leave a dusty film across all the desk tops. Then next day I doodled with my finger in the dust.

Great work - "burn out rather than fade away" very funny.

Given your clear frustration you've done much better to stick at that then I would have done, and what a result! Well worth it - a lovely idea and so well executed. I'd love to know how you do it - your penwork is constantly stunning.

This is wonderful! Totally awesome, and made me laugh - love Kermit being there! It's the most fantastic decorated school desk ever. Albert Einstein is Inspire me Thursday's theme this week, by the way, you've done your contribution for it too!

When are we going to be able to buy a print of it? Because then you will never have to draw it again. I love it!

Of course, if that had been my desk I would have found a way to scratch something into the pen try at the top.

Great to see the steps like this - I wish I had had the guts to draw on the desk - but then of course I thought I was a non-drawer! Thanks for your comments on my blog - came just when I needed it. (I've just posted another set of memory paintings)

Your drawings are AWESOME! Hehe I don't say this word aloud either being british and over 30 and all that. It's been a while since I've commented here but I do love your work and it just goes on getting better...if that's possible :)

Just found your blog from a post on Moleskinerie, and I have to say I just love your drawings. In particular, your step by step drawings are fantastic, and such a clever idea. I remember as a kid being fascinated by the way doodles on an exercise book could take a life on of their own, and become a piece of art, and you've made this style totally your own. In awe!

Thanks, guys and dolls. You make my day.

Neal, cheers. Glad you found me! I too, am fascinated by that kind of thing. And especailly the layering of stuff. I love to hide things in layers. They are there, I know they are there, but nobody else does. Unless, of course, I do a step by step!!

I also love trying to find meanings and clues in doodles. We'll never know what they really mean, but they can take on a whole new meaning to us. I LOVE that. Even though I'm not sure it makes any sense?!

Cheers, guys.
