Well, when I posted this, this morning, I was really frustrated with the drawing. And myself. I'd worked on it most of the weekend and had a clear idea of where I wanted to go with it. However, I did not achieve what I'd started out to do. So, this morning, I wrote a really grumpy post. Now, I've had some distance from it, though, I don't feel so bad. It may not have turned out like I'd imagined, but hey, so what?(I still don't love it, or anything, I just dislike it a less.)

ReplyDeleteI had an idea I set out with, it didn't work out. So this morning when I posted it i was feeling really frutrated with the drawing. I don't mind it half as much, now that I've had some distance from it. I would change the words, but Blogger will not let me edit my post? Any ideas how to do it?? It's annoying.

ReplyDeleteI'm sure you can edit your posts. I've done it in the past. Sometimes the "Dashboard" doesn't show up as a button the top bar, I don't know why. But if you hit "new post" the dashboard and the editting buttons seem to show up there.

ReplyDeleteStepping away for a while is ALWAYS good, in my personal opinion. Especially after some intense concentration and effort. As they say, sleep on it a while. And this is a wonderful piece of art!!!

ReplyDeleteAfter spending two days trying to get my watercolors to behave on the paper I can understand the frustration when there's a difference between what your mind's eye sees and what actually turns out.
Michelangelo took a sledge hammer to one of his statues because the arm "didn't look right." But don't do that, please ;o)
rHow do you do your shading in ink? Is it dots? crosshatching? What type of pen do you use to get such detail?????

ReplyDeleteNancy, it's all cross hatching. I sometimes use stippling, but there is none in this one. Just very fine cross hatching. I use a Pillot G-tec fineliner pen.
Suzanne, I'm totally with you. I fel exactly the same. I sometimes feel like I need to take a break from drawing for, say, a month, but if I attempt to take a break my mind just will not stop thinking about drawing!
