they're all wasted

I have an addictive personality. That's a fact. If I get into something I just cannot leave it alone. I'm like a dog with a bone. I'm fickle with my addictions though; I substitute one for another on a regular basis. Some of my recent addictions have been Kath & Kim, Flickr, Ben & Jerry's, The Who, Reece's peanut cups, colour pencil and Dettol (it's an obsessive compulsive thing).

  3. You forgot our old friend, Bob Ross. LOL.
I'm guessing that you use a conventional pencil sharpener rather than a knife then.
Once more you've made something special from something ordinary. Looks like your next pic will have to be a bottle of Dettol!

  4. You're just bloody amazing, that's all there is to it. You could drawn the leftovers of my lunch and I'd be looking for a frame, for Pete's sake!

  5. Andrea, for some reason this is one of my MOST favourite of all your drawings! Is that too silly or what? Pencil shavings!

  6. Wow thanks guys! I'm very touched as I was seriously cosidering NOT posting this. I didn't think it worked. So thanks, your comments are a real ego boost!

Tracy, I did wonder if Dettol was a British brand; it's an anti-septic disinfectant!!

Gillian, I must say that I'm not that inspired by the thought of drawing the dettol, however, there was an anti-bacterial handwash that was calling me to draw it just the other day! Ad I did forget Bob; although he has been a long term obsession of mine!

    Cheers everyone...Ryan I'm blushing!!

  9. "You could drawn the leftovers of my lunch and I'd be looking for a frame" - took the words right out of my mouth. Freakin' AH-MAY-ZING Andrea. Just amazing.

  11. Love it, wish I had done mine in colour. Don't you just hate it when you just finish sharpening and the lead drops out! You are amazing.

  12. Cheers guys,

Yes Eileen, I hate it when the lead breaks - and it seems to happen SO often. Drives me mad.

Claudia, I did this drawing on an A4 page, I usually leave a bit of a border of perhaps an inch.

Dinahmow, I couldn't do those hipsters justice!

Thanks Juj and Claudia, I appreciate your kind comments.

  13. Amazing!
Hey, Kath and Kim - you don't mean that awful Australian comedy on TV. I don't like it at all - perhaps it's too close to the truth of people I know!

  14. I've just faved this on Flickr, it's absolutely brilliant ... and all your drawings deserve framing and an exhibition! I'm in line for the book ... :)

  15. Andrea--

This is very nice. You have taken NOTHING and made it into SOMETHING! Just goes to show that stuff to draw is close at hand if we look for it. It's great to see your work and read your narratives.

  16. Cheers guys!

Wendy, yes, I do mean that awful Australian comedy. I love it! And yes I do know what you mean about it being to close to the truth...partly why I do love it so much.

    Thanks Mariana and Terry.

  17. This caught my eye immediately as I scrolled through your page. It's perfect: abstract at first, then photographically familiar, explosive yet quiet, messy yet completely composed. Awesome. And I love the The Who reference (the The?).

I must agree with Kathleen, this has got to be my favourite!! It just looks so incredibly REAL! It must have taken hours!

  19. Thank you both,

Anthony, I'm guessing that you're quite a Who fan yourself. They have such an amazing catalogue of work, don't they? For me they have some of the best driving music you could ever want. Thanks for the comment. I'm a bit fan of yours too!

Fricka, thank you - your comment really did make me LOL!

  20. I do mean that awful Australian comedy. I love it! And yes I do know what you mean about it being to close to the truth...partly why I do love it so much. I'm an Aussie, should I be offended? ;) I must admit I'm a Kath and Kim fan myself....it's silly, stupid humour but I love how they mock just about everything.

AWESOME drawing, Andrea!!! Only you could make pencil shavings a work of art :)
