i'll have a cup of tea and tell you of my dreaming

I am a tea addict. I drink anything between ten and twenty cups of tea a day. Sometimes more. I start the day with a cup or two of black tea. Then go on to something kick-ass like green tea with earl grey or jasmine. In the afternoon I switch to more refreshing teas, especially citrus flavours, such as green tea with lemon or rose hip tea. Then in the evening I move on to more chill-out teas like mint or chamomile or licorice. When I'm at home I always have two cups on the go - one I'm drinking and another brewing. Basically, I chain drink tea.

So to reiterate; I quite like tea.

Awesome drawing Andrea! I can't imagine how long that must have taken. Just as Wolf said, I am wowed every time I see a new drawing of yours.

The teabags are terrific. It's ALL terrific!

The scent of jasmine tea reminds me of my trip to Hong Kong. I'm always buying fruit teas and herbal teas because their flavours sound so appealing, but I've never found one I've actually enjoyed! My most recent acquisition was white pomegranate tea. I still look at the box every morning and think, "Mmm, that sounds nice" ...

Hi there! I only recently discovered your blog and have been keeping my eye on it ever since. I just wanted to say, from one artist to another, I love your work and your style - it is all so very beautiful.

Aaaw, thanks guys.

Wolfy, you are not tring hard enough!! There must be a tea out there for you. I know what you are saying though EJ. It's hard to recommend teas because most people really dislike them. I don't know anyone who'll drink some of the muck that I drink! I'm drinking dandelion tea at the mo and it actually smells of cat pee. It does. I thought the cat must have had a little accident somewhere in the house but actually realised it was the tea I was drinking!

If I could recomend one it would have to be Pukka tea - the 'love' variety. It is a lavender and rose tea (niether of which I had tried before) and is so gorgeous. Very mellow. But really you'd probably hate it!!

Cheers guys for the lovely comments, and yep Genine it took ages.

Oh, lavender and rose sounds fabulous! Our local tearoom recently won a "Best Tea Place 2007" award, and when I'm there I either opt for the rose tea or for a sensational French one which has lavender, honey, strawberry and rhubarb. It's a "proper" caffeinated tea, and completely delicious.

I can't believe some of the detailed work that you and other EDMers (France Belleville, Mattias) are doing in your sketchbooks! What I wouldn't give to see your Moleskine in the "flesh". Really amazing stuff.

Thanks very much! :)

Well here is another fabulous collection! I just can't believe you drink that much tea, and I am a tea lover! I like just about every type of tea I have tried, and I wonder where I can find that rose and lavender tea?? Please tell me who makes it, and maybe I can track it down here . . .

Very wonderful drawing!

Thank's guys.

Mark - you're welcome.

EJ - I am very jealous! That sounds like my type of place. I might actually get out of the house if i had a local tearoom like that!
I must say that I am really proud of my Moleskine. Sometimes when I look through the pages I cannot believe how much time I have put into that book. It must be days of drawing and I'm only about half way through.

Kath - I've just found the website for those teas. I didn't realise you even had a blog so I'll post the info there.

Cheers!

Always a delight to view, even though I'm a coffee drinker!

I´m a tea-drinker too and also drink 2- 10 cups a day.
Even if I have at least 30 different kinds of tea at home, I always prefer black tea with milk.

Andrea, Have you bought yourself some jasmine tea balls? Not only will you get your favourite smell, a lovely cp of tea but you also get great visuals as they "brew"

andrea joseph's sketchblog said...

Thank you guys,

Gezsan - no way!!! WHERE do I get these from? I have to try these out.

BT - I had to put a good old Tetley there to represent my morning cuppa.

Ksklein - I find that black tea with milk gets a litle sickly after the first, say, two or three! I find greens and herbals much more refreshing.

I actually swapped to teas from coffee - because I was finding it impossible to sleep!!

Cheers all. I see that tea is definatley one of those subjects that gets people's attention.

I'm not sure I'd classify myself a chain-tea-drinker but I think I'd come in a close second behind you. As soon as my mug is empty, I'm brewing another. I LOVE green tea most of all.

Your drawing is amazing!! Such detail!

Thanks ladies!

Emma - I want that tea too! Sounds amazing. Where do you get it?

Suzanne - you don't know how right you are!

Serena -thank you for all the lovely comments. I very much appreciate them.

Cheers.

I love how you elevate the everyday. That's a real talent.

Must admit that I'm a tea bore. I prefer mine black, though I know I should be drinking more green, and I mostly avoid infusions (or whatever it is herbal tea is).

It's orange pekoe at my elbow (sigh).

Thanks for posting on my blog.
So, do you photograph such a collection, or do you sit and draw it til you're done?
I love thje sepia tone you used. I think it is so perfect for the subject.
I love both tea and coffee. I don't drink as much tea as I should. I'm partial to the herbal moreso than the black, but I love to try new things. Do you have any fruity ones to recommend?

My gosh, this is an amazingly complex drawing! Did it take forever? Wonderful detail and shadows. I love your drawing style, the texturing is awesome.

Thanks guys

Glassgirl - I never work from photos. I like yto be abe to hold or handle the subjects - probably why I stick to still life!! he he.

Hmmm fruity teas? I like rosehip especially. Very refreshing. Clipper organic teas are my faves and I liketheir green teas with aloe vera, ginseng, echinacea; which are all quit3e fruity. they also do a lemon and lime tea which is nice.

Laserone - it took forever!

Cheers Andrea.
