Clever! Gorgeous! I love how you aligned all the contents of this neat purse and made an inventory. It immediately reminded me of this amazing artist Gregory Blackstock, who is autistic and who draws visual lists of things, clowns, bugs, tools... There is so much humor in this, Andrea. And i loved your sketches of your cat!

France, I have been taking a look at Gregory Blackstock's work. I hadn't heard of him before but am blown away by what I've just seen. It's amazing. I loved the barns, cockroaches, art supplies and many more. What a talent. It is exactly his kind of work that completley excited me as a child - and still does today. I love the way you laid all this out and lovingly rendered each item as if they belonged in a museum display. I can't wait to try this with my bag. Except I carry a backpack instead of a purse and it has sooooo much junk in it! I'll have to lay it out on the floor I think. What fun! Thanks for the inspiration!
This really is not a very big bag at all- it's just always bursting at the seams! You know, things falling out at the most inopportune moments.
I can't take all the credit for the contents idea either I'm sure that some one else inspired me. I think that I read it on one of those lists of ideas for things to draw. It could have been In Micheal Nobb's Beany or on Keri Smith' site.
If I'm not wrong this is the first of the AJ-style paint box compositions. They remind me those paint boxes for chidren in which every pencil and ruler and eraser is holded by a rubber band, covering the whole surface with no superpositions. I love them.
