in my mind i still need a place to go

I've been doing a bit of enforced decluttering recently. I was throwing out my 2008 Moleskine diary when I remembered the drawing (above) was in the back. So I thought I'd do a little giveaway thingamajig, as I haven't done one for ages. So, if you'd like to get your hands on this unusual piece (basically, an empty Moleskine with nothing but this drawing inside) just leave a comment and, in a few days, I'll do that Randomiser thing to choose a winner - that's if I can work out how to do it. Failing that, I'll put all your names in a hat and pick one out. Much more my style.

Happy 2009, lovely peeps.

I love the first piece, it's got a lot going on but I think it just reflects how haphazard and chaotic rain can be.

I'd love to be counted in on the draw as well ^^

Drawings are always a fun way to get rid of that drawing you don't like, BUT the rest of us do!:>)
Love the first drawing alot. The umbrella and rain can symbolize alot of things for people....

You are way to hard on yourself because that's one stunner of a drawing. You always amaze me with what you can do with a pen.

Please count me in the draw and I'll get busy crossing my fingers, toes and eyes in hopes that I end up with a Andrea Joseph original.

Hi Andrea,
Maybe I'm being selfish hoping for the opportunity of owning two AJs as your print already adorns my wall.

Really get the impression of people being windswept outside and I love the light touch of the scarf on the chair.

Always something good to say!

Holy crapolla, am I too late? Am I late???? Dang! Hope not cuz I'd give my left arm for one of your drawings! (I can't give you my right cuz that's my drawing arm). Love to you Andrea. You are too sweet for parting with one of your treasures. But if it's not too late, please count me in. And you can bet that I will have all of my fingers crossed (at least all of those on my right! : )

Wow Andrea. You should run for some kind of office. Look how popular you are.

andrea joseph's sketchblog said...

WOW. Ok, this is a surprise.

Firstly, I probabaly didn't explain it very well. I have taken all the pages out of the Moleskine. Actually removed them. It is empty, completely, apart from the drawing. It was last years diary, there is no way I want anyone to see what nonsense goes through my mind - although, visitors to this blog probably have a good idea already!

So basically, it's a drawing within a Moleskine cover. Might throw some little bits and pieces in too. Cheers, guys. I'll get my hat out soon!

Capt Elaine Magliacane said...

If I'm not too late, please toss my name in the hat too, on top please :-)
I'd love to see an original from you...so the empty moleskine is of little or no interest... it's your drawing I want.

I still love my bit of Andrea art that I purchased. I recommend to all interested parties that you purchase one before Andrea becomes famous and none of us will be able to afford her work.

Put my name in the hat. Somewhere in the middle about half way down. I think that will increase my chances of winning the skinned mole.

Poor mole. It must have hurt.

What you don't understand Andrea is that we all want the drawing no matter if it is the only thing in the book. You could have drawn on a napkin and we would have still begged to be on the list.

Anonymous said...

hi andrea
'in my mind i still need a place to go'. is this in reference to how you feel when you draw or is it more like when you do 'things' you can use those 'things' to draw from, or is it something else entirely.

please DONT include me in the draw, i am just happy with an answer to this question.
thankyou
brendan

One thing I haven't learn is how to let go of my artwork. I feel so attatch to them because I spent time on them. I think it is so brave of you to be willing to give out the moleskine for your admirers. Maybe one day i'll learn to let go too.

I'm glad i check your blog everyday hoping for something beautiful to look at. I surely would love my hands on that moleskine sketch book.

That must be a record for posts! I think it proves a point - you work is in demand! I'm very proud of my original 'little pen' drawing :-)All the best for 2009!

Anonymous said...

Typical! Every time I come in here Steve has beaten me to it. :-)

That line is in a Nick Cave song isn't it? (Helpless) although of course it may well be a cover (just googled - it appears to be a Crosby Stills and Nash covered by half the world and his dog). It's a nice poignant title anyway and of course a beautiful drawing. As always.

This must have set some kind of record for the most comments on a single post! Everyone's desperate to get their hands on an original Joseph. :-)

littlemithi said...

Oh yes ... an empty moleskine touched by you would be MOST fab!

You lovely person you! Your card came in the post this morning (confused me somewhat as the ink stamp thing said "17 JAN" ... OMG! I had shot lost 10 days in 2009!)

You have the MOST GORGEOUS handwriting ... if only I could afford to hire you to hand-address all our wedding invites ...

Have a great 2009 - wish you a fabulous and creative year!

Thank you ALL! Wow. What a response. I'm going to draw it now (ooh, that was an unintentional but awful pun).

Brendan, I think that it's kind of a mixture of those things, but mostly it is how I feel about drawing. There's a place I go when I'm drawing that is unlike any other. It's my favourite place, and I can find some sort of peace there. Thanks for asking.

Rachel, it is indeed the Niel Young (CSNY) version. That's another tune that gives me goose bumps when I hear the opening. Ah, going to have to put it on now.

And, once again, there is NOTHING, no pages, in the Moleskine apart from the drawing! I hope you are not disappointed.

Cheers, everyone.

andrea joseph's sketchblog said...

The winner is (drum roll, please) Karen Blados!! And, I thought after such a great response I'd do a second prize (my print) which goes to JeanneG.

Thanks for taking part everybody.
