Andrea, just been catching up on your blog - what gorgeous stuff you've been working on! Love the drawing challenge theme to your tags, and is that one of those toothbrushes with a bendy neck that i see?
Andrea - I haven't been around in a while, and what a pleasure to come back to your blog! I love the way you responded visually to the tag - brilliant. This post really speaks to me because my daughter was wearing Birkenstocks in a cable car in Hong Kong when a snobby French woman, assuming we couldn't understand her, started saying that they weren't feminine. Claire was furious for the rest of the day! The silly woman didn't even know how cool they are these days. Great drawing...
I just bought a pair of Birkenstock sandals on eBay, so I guess I'll have to draw them when I get them, too! Andrea, what about drawing your sandals with your feet in them??
Andrea- I love this drawing of your birkenstocks! The way you showed your foot's imprint in the sole and the textures and the composition is amazing. They are wonderful. Nice work!
Great drawing! I just had to throw my old ones away and buy a new pair. So now I have a dreadful time before the new ones are lovely and "worn out". And that`s about when I have to buy a new pair again....
It amazes me how some subjects just get people excited. Birkenstocks is definately one of them. They really are the best and Casey your daughter is in good company! That woman doesn't know what she's talking about! HA. On Flickr there is a Birkenstock group (Birkenstocking!). I've a couple of drawings on there and I've just noticed France has added hers.
Kath - that really is a scary challenge. Not only because of my feet, but I never draw anything that is actually living! I might have to give it a go now - but I'm not promising I'll post it. I will try though.
That's the spirit, Andrea! I remember Mariana saying she wasn't good at drawing people (when we knew all along she HAD to be!), and then she did those amazing portraits!
Well, I feel it will be the same for you, at least with your feet ;-) By the way, since you say you only draw inanimate objects, I guess those portraits you've been posting fall into that catagory since all those people have passed away?
This brought a smile to my face. I love my Birkenstocks and we're just coming into the weather for them. I got mine in Paris - is that chic or what? Lovely drawing.
Great drawing gain Andrea!I'm amazed at your ability to take the simplest thing and turn it into a real piece of art..like a worn shoe with toe prints.. Ronell

I, too, really admire how well you've done the imprint of feet! They do look mighty comfy!!!
Thanks everyone.

Hello!
It is drawn terribly and in detail.
My seeing doesn't get tired.

Cheers guys.
Forgot to say; Mariana you were right. Free to Run by Gomez. An absolute favourite of mine. Where have Gomez gone? I miss them.
